Have you ever thought about how and why the Shark Tank investors are where they are today? In this article, we will dive into two famous investors on the show – Mark Cuban and Kevin O’Leary. Although the other sharks (Daymond John, Robert Herjavec, Lori Greiner, and Barbara Corcoran) are equally amazing, I could only find the most information about these two.
The famous ABC show TV Shark Tank has aired more than 200 episodes and is now in the 11th season in 2020. If you haven’t seen Shark Tank, each episode presents a series of entrepreneurs who pitch their ideas to the “sharks,” who are a panel of multi-millionaire businesspeople. It is one of my favorite shows on TV because it offers the opportunity to learn how entrepreneurs and investors work together to create incredible products and services. I truly love how the sharks’ debate, negotiate and think about each business opportunity presented and always enjoy watching each show.
Mark Cuban
“Always wake up with a smile knowing that today you are going to have fun accomplishing what others are too afraid to do.”
Mark Cuban
Mark Cuban has a net worth of $4.3 billion, which makes him the wealthiest Shark. Mark is the owner of the professional basketball team the Dallas Mavericks and serves as chairman of AXS TV. After watching Mark Cuban’s interview on Vanity Fair, I learned a bit more about Mark’s daily routine.
Mark sets his alarm to wake up every morning at 6:30 am sharp to get ready for the day. Since Mark sleeps in his gym clothes, he does not need to get up right away to get dressed and waits until he works out later to change from his clothes. Mark stays in his bed for the morning and checks his emails immediately, but only focuses on reviewing the most stressful or time pressing emails. After checking his emails, Mark heads to the kitchen for some decaf coffee (interesting!) and eats his favorite oatmeal cookies called Alyssa’s Cookies – which is a company he invested in.
Mid-morning, Mark checks and reads up on the recent financial news and what is going on in the world, since the news profoundly impacts his industry. Mark spends a couple of hours throughout the day, checking finance news and picking up books to read. After his reading, Mark aims to do some cardio workout- his favorite being an hour of pick-up basketball.
Kevin O’Leary
“Whatever you pay attention to grows!”
Kevin O’Leary
Kevin O’Leary, also known as Mr. Wonderful, has a net worth of $400 million. O’Leary is famous for founding the Software company SoftKey that he sold to Mattel for $4.2 billion. O’Leary has written many best-selling books on financial literacy and is seen on other TV shows, including CNBC and Discovery Channel. O’Leary also has his wine label, which you check out here!
Kevin O’Leary’s morning routine starts early at 4:30 am every morning. O’Leary enjoys getting up soon because the European stock market is almost halfway through their day, and their performance often shadows the US markets. O’Leary enjoys starting his day on the cycle bike while watching the stock market news and reading daily business reports. O’Leary aims to burn a minimum of 500 calories per workout session and enjoys working out first in the morning. After his intense workout, he will spend 20 minutes doing full body stretches. O’Leary then heads downstairs for his morning coffee – which he says he will never pay for at a coffee shop (smart tip!).
